Highly Qualified Paraprofessional AssessmentTeacher with Students
Brazosport ISD is required to ensure that all applicable paraprofessionals meet the highly qualified status set forth by the Texas Education Agency. For paraprofessional applicants that do not meet the requirements of completion of 48+ semester hours or possess an Associate degree (or higher) from an approved accredited university or college, then the applicant must meet a rigorous standard of quality which can be demonstrated through a local academic assessment.

Brazosport ISD currently partners with Brazosport College in order to complete the requirements needed to obtain educational aide certification.

If a candidate needs to complete the paraprofessional coursework and assessment, after being recommended for hire, the candidate will be sent information regarding registration and cohort assignment. Candidates will not be charged for this course; this course is offered in partnership with Brazosport College.

This course and exam will not delay a candidate’s hiring process with BISD.  Candidates are permitted to work in a paraprofessional capacity while working to obtain this certification.
